The last time a major box office record was broken and a new one was established was in the year 2019 when marvel trump card Avengers Endgame hit and crashed the theatres soaring in over 2.7 Billion dollars, making it the highest-grossing film of all time but that did not last long as Avatar re-released in China and bagged 54 Million dollars to kick Avengers Endgame down and reclaim the throne of the highest-grossing film of all time.
The year 2020 witnessed the once-in-a-century pandemic that shut down the entire world along with all the public gathering places including our beloved theatres. A couple of months later when things were starting to come back to normal, movies started rolling out slower than usual. Tenet became the first major tentpole to showcase bravery bagging in 350 Million Dollars then came the Demon Slayer movie that conquered the title of the highest-grossing film of 2020 at 450 Million dollars.
2021 witnessed the rise of the theatres as Godzilla vs Kong invited the audience back into the great halls, then came many more like Mortal Kombat and Wrath of Man but the biggest turnaround is A Quiet Place Part 2 which is projected to break all the records that weren’t touched since 2019. A Quiet Place Part 2 is a nerve-shredding horror sequel that focuses on a family of 4 led by Emily Blunt who manages to find shelter in an alien infected deserted world. The film stars Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou in supporting roles. John Krasinski performs the directing duties just as he did for the first one.
In other news, Indiana Jones 5 is expected to kick off filming in the next week as the star-studded treasure hunting adventure returns for a fifth stint with Harrison Ford. Thor 4 titled Thor Love And Thunder has wrapped up production making it the second of four films of Marvel Cinematic Universe to wrap production for next year’s slate.
