Director Ridley Scott‘s next stint into the historical adventure world is all set to drop in the form of Napoleon Bonaparte’s biopic titled “Kitbag“. The 19th-century ruler was the master of war tactics and deception. The story of the film will be told from Napoleon Bonaparte’s wife’s point of view.
Ridley Scott has been in the business for quite a while now and when it comes to historical films he has achieved what no one has. His 2001 medieval drama Gladiator won the Oscar for best picture. Apart from The Gladiator Ridley has also made a number of memorable historic films like 1492 A Conquest of Paradise, Kingdom of Heaven, Robin Hood, and Exodus Gods and Kings.
Joaquin Phoenix who is pictured as Joker whenever someone hears his name has delivered some iconic performances throughout his film career. His very first meeting with Ridley Scott came on the sets of The Gladiator where he was the main antagonist of the film. And now he has been cast as the lead in Kitbag with the duty to portray Napoleon Bonaparte. His other memorable films include Her, The Master, and Joker. The latter one brought him his very first Oscar.
Jodie Comer has been tapped in to portray the role of Napoleon’s wife Josephine for whom Napoleon manages to conquer almost half of Europe and destroys everything when he still fails to regain her love. The story of the film will be told from Josephine’s point of view that would focus on the mysterious beauty of the master war tactician.
The film will also capture Napoleon’s disturbing relationship with his wife that would result in his downfall as the french emperor. Ridley Scott is currently adding his finishing touches for another historical period film titled “The Last Duel” starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The film is slated for an October release.
