The Jumanji franchise is expanding its film’s setting by the addition of back-to-back sequels every year. They really are taking their franchise game a bit seriously. The recent news just came out of Sony headquarters that the Dwayne Johnson fronted film series is getting a 4th installment.

Jumanji who first came to life in the late 90s and earned a very special place in every 90s kid was led by the late Robbin Williams who was accompanied by 2 kids who happen to have crossed paths with a board game that brings everything to life. Robin along with his lady love and those 2 annoying children set an endeavor to finish the game which was the only way to return back to normal.

The film still feels nostalgic and allows every 90s person to reminisce those beautiful days. The film was picked up for a sequel by Sony who tapped Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart as the lead of the film.

Jumanji 2 was released in 2017 receiving mixed reviews by critics criticizing the setting of the film but lauding the performances from Karen Gillian, Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, and Kevin Hart.

Another film in the series was announced after the successful reception and revenue of the first one. The second sequel was titled Jumanji The Next Level. The film was released in 2019 with the cast returning for another adventure. The reviews, reception, and revenue came out to be the same as the previous one.

Now Sony just dropped another word confirming that the 3rd sequel is in the early stages of development with the regular cast returning. Another cast and crew members are yet to be announced. Writing and screenplay of the film has begun, with filming expected to kick off later this year and allowing the film to release sometime next year following their pattern of 2 years between sequels.
