The greek master filmmaker has announced his next project titled Poor Things with the addition of Academy Award-nominated actor Willem Dafoe. Yorgos Lanthimos who first came into spotlight with his film Dogtooth which managed to successfully grab a seat at the oscar nominations. The greek born and raised filmmaker went on to make iconic mythological and yet satire films.
His other projects include The Killing of The Sacred Deer that starred Colin Farrel and Nicole Kidman. The story followed a doctor who accidentally kills a patient by failing to deliver a successful surgery only to find out that his sins are coming back at him as his family starts getting paralyzed.
He once again joined hands with Colin Farrel for the film The Lobster. The story followed a hotel that takes in singles only to make them look for a partner in that esteemed establishment. This film made Yorgos a recognized filmmaker in the category of satire.
After the recognition in satire, he felt motivated towards the specific genre which resulted in another Oscar-nominated film The Favourite starring Olivia Colman and Emma Stone. The story depicted a queen who struggles with her sexual life and relationships.
Now a word just came all the way from Greece announcing that the abundantly talented filmmaker is all set to make a new film titled Poor Things with Willem Dafoe serving as the lead character. Emma Stone is also expected to appear in this film.
The story of the film will follow and take place in the late 19th century where a young girl meets an accident and her brain had to be transfigured and replaced with a child’s brain. Having the body of an adult and a brain of a child assures us a crazy ride in satire.
Willem Dafoe who is quite known for films like Spider-Man, The English Patient, and The Lighthouse is a legend of cinematic appearances and Emma Stone who has shifted gears from action films to Oscar films has brought her an Oscar for best actress.
